A technical webinar dedicated to the assessment of "green" jobs and skills in Kazakhstan and Georgia was held on April 25, 2024. The event was organized within the framework of the DKU-UNEP project "Sustainable Lifestyles in Universities of Central Asia and the South Caucasus" and attracted the attention of students, labor market analysts, professionals and representatives of international organizations.
The main goal of the event was to inform the participants about the current state and development of "green" jobs in Kazakhstan and Georgia. The participants discussed how the transition to a green economy affects the needs for education and what measures should be taken to prepare qualified personnel in these countries.
The webinar was opened with welcoming remarks from Madina Ibrasheva, UNEP GO4SDGs Regional Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia, and Barbara Janusz-Pawletta, Vice President for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development at the Kazakh-German University.
During the event, Alberto Frigerio, a project expert, presented the results of the assessment of the market for "green" jobs and the needs for education in the field of sustainable development. He shared an analysis of current trends and explained how to better integrate "green"skills into educational programs.
A question and answer session allowed participants to ask questions and discuss the data presented, as well as offer their ideas and comments on the topic.
The webinar provided valuable information for policymakers, educators and all stakeholders seeking to promote the development of "green" jobs and skills in Kazakhstan and Georgia. Participants noted the need for further discussion and cooperation for a more effective transition to a sustainable economy and the training of qualified personnel.
