Webinar “Sustainable Mobility Green Nudges on Campus and Beyond”

On November 15, the UNEP-DKU project hosted a webinar on “Sustainable Mobility Green Nudges on Campus and Beyond” where experts shared best practices and practical solutions.

  • Mr. Daniel Seyffardt (Affective Advisory) elaborated on the concept of green nudges as a behavioral change tool. For instance, reducing parking spaces and introducing monthly permits can encourage people to switch to bicycles or public transport.
  • Ms. Janene Tuniz (UNEP) presented successful case studies from various countries. One example is Worcester, where students receive a 25% discount on bike rentals through dedicated apps, promoting eco-friendly transportation both on and off campus.
  • Ms. Yelena Yerzakovich, an expert in sustainable city mobility, shared insights from Kazakhstan. One key initiative is the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), which aims to create an efficient and eco-friendly transportation system.
  • Ms. Alima Alipova (LogCenter, DKU) highlighted the Cargo Bike Almaty project, which explores the potential of cargo bicycles to improve urban logistics.

🌱The webinar attracted 47 participants. The initiatives presented in the webinar prove that sustainability starts with small changes that can make cities and universities more comfortable and environmentally friendly.
