Webinar “Green Nudges in Plastic & Food Waste Prevention and Management on Campus and Beyond”

On October 18, within the framework of the UNEP-DKU project, a webinar entitled: “Green Nudges in Plastic & Food Waste Prevention and Management” was held. Participants learned about best practices and inspiring initiatives to promote sustainable lifestyles:

  • Paolo Marengo (UNEP, GO4SDGs) presented the “Recipe of Change” program, which helps to reduce food waste. About 1.05 tons of food is thrown away every year, but we can reduce this waste by changing consumer habits.
  • Asa Elizabeth Tynell (UN) shared the experience of UN Plaza Almaty, which collected more than 3500 kg of organic waste and plastic in one year. She also mentioned the creation of vegan options at the UN International Center in Vienna.
  • Zulfira Zikrina (Centre for Sustainable Production and Consumption) shared about the Global Compact on Plastic, which aims to reduce its use by 40% by 2040.
  • Adlet Nurselinov (Sparklo Kazakhstan) presented Sparklo vending machines that give bonuses for handing over plastic bottles.
  • Yuriy Kirdyushkin (Hara Hura) showed how plastic can be turned into art and furniture.
  • Mahnoza Kabirova (SDG 2024) spoke about a plastic recycling project for 3D printers at Tajik National University.
  • Harutyun Alpetyan (American University of Armenia) shared initiatives such as solar panels, drinking fountains and sustainability courses.

🔗 The webinar gathered 67 participants who actively shared ideas and asked questions. We thank everyone for their participation and hope that the knowledge gained will help you with your green initiatives!
