The Kazakh-German University (DKU) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) successfully held a Video Contest aimed at promoting and introducing ‘green nudges at universities in Central Asia and South Caucasus. The contest participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their initiatives in the field of sustainable development through the creation of short videos reflecting successful experience in implementing environmental practices.
18 videos were submitted to the competition, each presenting unique environmental initiatives and ideas to promote sustainable lifestyles. The jury selected 6 semi-finalists, and during the final voting held at the Sustainable Lifestyle Festival 2024 in Tashkent, the winners were chosen.
The winners of the competition are:
1st place: Makhnosa Kabirova, video on "Plastic Recycling," Tajik National University
2nd place: Zhanar Shortanbayeva, video on "Green Nudges at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University"
3rd place: Valeria Slepchenkova, video on "Green Nudges at Narxoz University."
All participants of the competition received certificates.
The prize fund for the winners included:
- Opportunity for free training on the online course from DKU ‘ESG Practice in Kazakhstan’ for the first place.
- Eco souvenirs and free participation in the online course on writing scientific and review articles for the winners.
- Unique opportunities for winners whose projects are related to water resources, including participation in online academic writing training and internships.
The competition has become an important platform for students and teachers, facilitating the exchange of ideas and inspiring young people to take action for sustainable development.
