On November 5, as part of the UNEP-DKU project, a webinar was held on the topic: “Green Nudges in Sustainable Energy & Water Use on Campus and Beyond”. Participants explored best practices and inspiring initiatives that promote sustainable living.
The first presentation was delivered by Mr. Korb Limsuwan, who discussed energy and water-saving strategies at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Examples included large-scale rainwater collection and filtration of tap water for irrigation, as well as the creation of park areas for relaxation.
Ms. Mariya Stepanova followed with a discussion on trends and practical projects in sustainable energy and energy efficiency in Central Asia, along with the development of environmental awareness among students. A simple yet effective example was stickers on switches, indicating which lights to turn on first to save energy.
Mr. Alexander Kiryukhin, the leading scientific advisor at ideas into energy gGmbH, shared experiences from international projects such as “Solar Universities,” involving countries in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
Mr. Abylaikhan Soltanayev also shared the experience of DKU in installing solar panels on the university’s rooftop.
The webinar brought together 62 participants who actively exchanged ideas and engaged in discussions. We thank everyone for their participation and hope that the knowledge gained will support your green initiatives!
