On June 13-14, 2023, the “Sustainable Lifestyles Festival: Learning to Live Better and Lighter” was held within the framework of the project “Sustainable Lifestyle in Universities of Central Asian Countries”. This significant event brought together representatives of 20 Central Asian universities and high-profile experts in the field of sustainable development.

The main goal of the festival was to actively promote a sustainable lifestyles in universities in Central Asian countriesand changes in consumption patterns to ensure the health of the planet and universal prosperity. The event was attended by 71 people, including representatives of universities, the private sector, government agencies, international organizations, as well as undergraduate and graduate students.

The festival opened an important milestone in the development of sustainable education in the region by establishing the Sustainable Lifestyles University Network (SLUN). The network has become a platform for cooperation and exchange of best practices between universities in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The festival was attended by the Head and Global Coordinator of GO4SDGs UNEP, Deputy Head of the 10FP Secretariat Adriana Zacarias Farah, and Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakypova Fatima Nadyrovna. Their participation emphasized the importance of the event and supported efforts to promote sustainable development.

The festival became a platform for discussing key aspects of sustainable development, such as improving curricula, research and infrastructure. One of the most important objectives of the event was to discuss the Action Plan the universities of Central Asia until 2025, aimed at introducing a sustainable lifestyle on campuses and in the lives of students.

The festival participants exchanged information on the successes achieved and the current situation in universities. The event demonstrated the readiness of Central Asian universities to work together to achieve sustainable development goals and implement "green" initiatives.

Thus, the festival became an important step in creating a platform for the further development and implementation of sustainable education, strengthening cooperation and exchange of experience between universities, and forming effective strategies for a sustainable future.
